“Le Chalet” is a character country house set in nearly a hectare of parkland. It is complimented by a large grange which is split into 1/3 two story barn, 1/3 garage with overhead storage, and 1/3 open hangar. This “maison de maître” probably has more attached land than any other house in the village, and includes the old village well as well as a new one.
You enter the front door into the large hall. On your left is the art Deco staircase, and on your right double doors into the large lounge with three sets of French windows into the garden and a single door into the kitchen. From the hall, the access door to the cellar is under the stairs and a wc to the right. Double doors lead into the large kitchen diner with a back door into the garden.
Half way up the first flight of stairs is a utility room with wc and washbasin, and at the top of that flight a large lading with three bedrooms and a bathroom. Continue from the landing half way up the second flight of stairs, and a double door leads out to a balcony. Continue up the stairs to find three more bedrooms and a bathroom together with access to the loft.
At one time, the house was used as a guest house/ B&B, and this could be restored if wished to provide an income especially with two close cities providing employment opportunities and a nearby International Airport, or just used as a large and graceful country home for an extended family.
There is an orangery and a barbecue house in the garden together with a swimming pool which requires a replacement liner. The village has its own Post Office/Bank, Bar/Café and Boulangerie/Store together with a newly modernised primary school. It is set alongside the Garonne River, with a public picnic area, a camping site and a stadium with tennis courts etc. St Sardos is about 6km away, has a lake and is a well known wine growing area.
The local markets are vibrant places with the farmers and producers exhibiting their wares weekly. Toulouse with its international airport is around 30 minutes drive away, Montech with the Canal du midi and its Pente D’eau is 10 minutes, and Montauban with its train station is 20 mins away with connections to Paris, Bordeaux etc. The house would benefit from some modernisation and so has been priced accordingly. However once finished could become a real jewel with lots of original features and full of character – rare these days!
